Recommended Stellar Blade settings for performance, controls, camera, accessibility, and comfort.

Introduction

The right settings can make Stellar Blade feel sharper, more responsive, and easier on the eyes. This guide covers the options that have the biggest impact on gameplay, from frame rate to camera behavior and accessibility.

Graphics and Performance

Stellar Blade offers three main console modes. Performance mode targets a stable 60 fps by rendering at approximately 1440p, making it ideal if you want the smoothest possible combat or if your display does not support 4K. Balanced mode reconstructs the image toward 4K while still aiming for 60 fps, which usually looks sharper than Performance without the input latency of 30 fps. Resolution mode renders at roughly 4K but caps the frame rate at 30 fps; the visual upgrade is modest and the timing cost is high, so most players should avoid it for serious combat.

On PlayStation 5 Pro, Pro and Pro Max modes are available. High Frame Rate mode can push beyond 60 fps on a 120 Hz display with Variable Refresh Rate enabled, but it only works with Pro or Pro Max selected. On PC, set the frame-rate cap to Unlimited if you have a VRR monitor, choose DLSS or FSR Quality for a clean image, and prioritize Character and Environment Detail on High.

For visual comfort, turn off or reduce Motion Blur and Camera Shake. These effects look cinematic but add blur during the rapid camera movements of combat. Film Grain and Chromatic Aberration are personal preference; disabling them often gives a cleaner picture.

Control Remapping Tips

Adaptive Triggers add resistance to L2 and R2. For action-heavy play, set them to Off or Prioritize Functionality so your fingers do not fatigue during long sessions. Vibration is also a preference; some players turn it off to avoid timing distractions. If you play with keyboard and mouse, map dodge to an easily reachable key and consider binding Beta Skills to comfortable modifiers.

For ranged sections, raise Ranged Aim Correction if you struggle to hit moving targets. Enabling Auto Lock-On When Attacking helps you stay on a target during melee combos, though you may want it off when fighting groups.

Camera Sensitivity and Lock-On

Set horizontal and vertical camera sensitivity to a level where you can track enemies without overcorrecting. Lock-On is mapped to R3 by default. For boss fights, keep it on and adjust Lock-On Camera Distance so you can see attack tells. In multi-enemy rooms, unlocking the camera often gives better situational awareness. Disabling Camera Auto Rotation also reduces motion sickness for some players.

Audio and Subtitles

Turn on Display Speaker Name so you know who is talking during cutscenes. Increase subtitle size and add a background if you play on a small screen or in a bright room. Adjust music and effects volumes so important audio cues, such as enemy attack wind-ups, are not drowned out. If your system supports 3D audio, enable it for better positional awareness in combat.

Accessibility Options

Stellar Blade has strong accessibility presets for motion sickness, mobility, vision, and hearing. Useful toggles include:

  • Always Display Center Point — a fixed dot for reference.
  • QTE Auto Success — automates quick-time events.
  • Fishing Controls Replacement — simplifies the fishing minigame.
  • Remove Puzzle Time Limit — removes pressure from timed puzzles.
  • Prevent Falling — stops Eve from slipping off ledges.
  • Colorblind Presets and High Contrast — improves visibility.

These settings do not disable achievements and can be adjusted at any time.

Difficulty Selection

Choose Story, Normal, or Hard at the start. Story and Normal can be swapped freely from the settings menu, while Hard locks in when selected. If this is your first playthrough, Normal is recommended. You can drop to Story if a boss becomes frustrating, or see the Combat Guide and Best Skills Tier List to improve instead.
